A concrete slab edge features a thickened foundation section measuring one foot six inches minimum depth and nine inches width. Two continuous number four reinforcing bars run longitudinally through the thickened edge, supplemented by slab reinforcement sized per the foundation plan. The exterior grade features asphaltic concrete paving or a concrete slab bearing against the thickened edge, accommodating an optional storefront recess at the top of the slab. A note specifies that the thickened edge is not required at truck court slabs where adjacent paving is also concrete.
