A wide-flange beam connects to a wide-flange column using a bolted end plate and complete joint penetration welds at the top and bottom flanges. The assembly incorporates a 1-inch thick by 14-inch wide by 2-foot 5-inch plate secured with sixteen 7/8-inch diameter A325-N bolts in standard holes at usual gauge spacing. Five-eighths inch thick full-width stiffener plates are welded to both sides of the column web with 5/16-inch typical fillet welds. Three-eighths inch complete joint penetration welds tie the flanges and plates together, supplemented by centered plates of 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch thickness.
