A supported steel beam frames into a supporting steel beam via a seated connection. A plate with a slot for the beam web is welded to the support, proportioned with a minimum one-half beam depth and six-inch minimum dimension, set at a distance of 1.75 times the beam flange width from the support face. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are provided on both sides and centered at the web of the supported beam. Seven-eighths-inch diameter A325-N bolts are installed on beam gauges, with one near-side and one far-side bolt. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size are applied on three sides typically.
