An angle ledger measuring 4x3-1/2x3/8 with long legs vertical is welded to the web of a structural steel wide-flange beam. A bent plate is permitted at the contractor's option. Fillet welds of one-quarter inch size connect the ledger to the beam web, specified as continuous or alternating three-inch segments on twelve-inch centers unless noted otherwise. Minimum vertical clearances of four inches and six inches are maintained between the ledger leg and the top flange.
