A steel beam connects to an open web steel joist girder utilizing a five-sixteenth-inch by four-inch required bent plate welded with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides. A five-sixteenth-inch plate is centered on the plate web of the steel beam to facilitate the connection. Field or shop welds of quarter-inch size secure the interface between the framing members.
