A cast-in-place concrete light pole foundation is set in natural undisturbed soil or approved compacted fill. The cylindrical concrete pier has a thirty-inch diameter and contains six number seven or eight number five vertical reinforcing bars tied with number three horizontal ties spaced at twelve inches on center. Three number three ties are positioned within the top five inches of the base. Anchor bolts and leveling nuts are set per the light pole manufacturer's specifications and tied to the reinforcing bars. A one-inch minimum grout space is provided under the light pole base plate, with the exposed portion finished smooth and sloping down to the concrete. A three-quarter-inch chamfer borders the top edge of the concrete pier. The assembly accommodates an electrical conduit entering the pier, with the total pier height dimensioned relative to the height of the pole above the base.
