A davit socket pedestal mounts on top of a steel column. A seven-eighths-inch thick cap plate caps the column, sized per plan, with half-inch by ten-inch stiffener plates welded to each side, omitted where shear tabs occur. Beams frame into the column flanges using bolted shear tabs, with half-inch and three-eighths-inch fillet welds indicated. A davit socket pedestal is welded directly to the top of the column cap plate.
