Steel girders frame into a round hollow structural section column with a 12-inch by 16-inch by 7/8-inch thick plate situated between the girder top chord angles. Two 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A325-N bolts on the beam gauge secure the connection. An L6x6x7/16 by 8-inch long steel angle with a 1/2-inch stiffener at the center of each side of the plate provides additional reinforcement. A 1/2-inch minimum clearance is maintained with 5/16-inch fillet welds. Additionally, a typical 3/4-inch by 6-inch by 0'-6" stabilizer plate is welded to the girders.
