A structural steel frame column incorporates a beveled flange preparation and a complete joint penetration weld with a double-bevel groove weld indicated by CJP, DCW. The web connection requires the plate to be removed on the bevel side of the web, and field welding must occur only after the column is fully braced and plumb. Lift plates are provided on both sides of the column by others. A dimension of four feet is provided from the top of floor to the connection point.
