An HSS stair stringer frames into a wide flange beam landing support using a welded end plate and full-depth stiffener plates. A one-quarter-inch end plate is welded to the end of the HSS stringer and bears against the support beam. Full-depth stiffeners are shaped and welded to each side of the stringer, and a matching full-depth stiffener is centered on the back side of the wide flange beam web. Complete joint penetration and fillet welds secure the steel assembly where it meets the concrete slab on metal deck at the stair landing.
