A concrete footing construction joint separates a first pour from a second pour with a continuous two-inch gap. Four number five reinforcing bars at four feet zero inches long center on the joint and continue through the connection. A shear key measuring six inches narrower than the beam width features a half-inch bevel on all four sides. The joint is vertically proportioned into equal thirds.
