An hollow structural section post extends through the roof assembly and is supported by a wide-flange beam sized per plan. Diagonal braces made of L3x3x1/4 angles run on both sides of the HSS post, tied with top and bottom L3x3x1/4 angles. Three-inch-long hollow structural section spacers matching the post size are placed at each end of the double angles. A continuous quarter-inch bent plate is welded around the HSS post with field fillet welds. The roof deck bears on the wide-flange beam with a coped angle connecting to the joist per typical details.
