A structural steel gravity beam connects to a steel column using a bolted single plate shear tab welded to the column flange. External continuity plates and cover plates are provided at the column joint, supplemented by a horizontal shear plate where required. Weld sizes and shear tab thicknesses are sized per the structural drawings.
