A steel beam connects to a concrete wall using a 3/4-inch by 8-inch plate with a height equal to the beam depth, welded with full penetration welds. Two 1/2-inch by 1-inch by 6-inch stiffener plates provide reinforcement. Four number 6 dowels, each 3 feet long, anchor the plate assembly into the concrete wall. A shear tab with two bolts connects the steel beam web to the embedded plate assembly.
