A buckling-restrained brace top joint connection aligns with a strong axis. A built-up beam stub connects to a gusset plate provided per the buckling-restrained brace manufacturer where it occurs. A web plate connects the beam to the gusset plate using structural bolts with a typical three-inch spacing and two-inch edge distance. A shim plate of one-eighth inch minimum thickness is included as required to align the beam web centerline with the gusset plate and column centerline. Slotted holes are provided in the connection with a one-inch dimension, and welded wire projections or fillet welds are specified on three sides where indicated.
