Steel deck flutes run perpendicular to the supporting steel beam with shear studs placed along the beam centerline axis. Single-row layouts place one stud in every other flute across the beam length, with remaining studs filling empty flutes starting at each end and working toward midspan. Two-row layouts provide one stud in each flute, adding supplementary studs starting from each end toward midspan with staggered spacing. Three-row layouts provide two studs in each flute with similar staggered placement from the ends toward midspan. Minimum and maximum spacing dimensions govern longitudinal and transverse stud placement across the beam flange.
