A diagonal steel angle brace connects to a structural steel beam via a three-eighths-inch thick gusset plate and a three-eighths-inch full-height stiffener plate welded to the web of the steel beam. A five-sixteenths-inch steel plate is attached along the top flange. The gusset plate is secured to the stiffener and the stiffener to the steel beam with one-quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides. The gusset plate is likewise welded directly to the steel beam with one-quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides.
