Roof sheathing bears over a wood I-joist supported by a double top plate of a stud wall. Web stiffeners are attached to each side of the joist web. An LSL rim board measuring 1-3/4 inches by 11-7/8 inches closes the joist space. An H8 tie fastens the joist to the top plates using five 10d by 1-1/2-inch nails, set above a beveled bearing block. A TSP stud tie plate connects the wall studs to the top plates using nine 10d by 1-1/2-inch nails to the studs and six 10d by 1-1/2-inch nails to the top plates.
