A wide flange steel beam bears directly on a reinforced concrete pier, secured via a three-quarter-inch by nine-inch by one-foot-six-inch galvanized embed plate anchored with three three-quarter-inch by eight-inch heavy stud anchors. The bottom of the embed plate aligns flush with the top of the concrete pier. Beam web stiffeners are provided on each side of the steel beam web at the support location. Three sets of ties are installed within the top five inches of the concrete pier.
