A shallow steel beam measuring six to eight inches deep connects to a support using a two-bolt single plate shear connection. Two high-strength bolts secure the beam web through a shear plate detailed per sheet S711. Fillet welds sized w1 secure the plate assembly. Vertical and horizontal edge distances of one and three-quarter inches, two inches, and three inches govern the bolt layout and plate positioning.
