The framing assembly consists of L5x3x1/4 structural steel angles with the long leg vertical, forming a perimeter curb around the roof opening between primary steel beams. The angle frames are connected to the supporting steel members using three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds typically applied along the joints. An alternate connection option designated as Option B allows trimming the vertical leg of the angle at the joist. The roof deck welds directly to the surrounding angle framing, and the vertical leg of the angle trims as needed at the joist. Additional framing provisions apply for mechanical unit supports and smaller penetrations.
