A structural steel column is supported by a steel base plate resting on one and one-half inches of non-shrink grout over a reinforced concrete pier and continuous concrete footing. A concrete slab on grade abuts the pier with a concrete blockout. Adjacent light-gauge steel framing with eight-inch by eighteen gauge studs at sixteen inches on center receives exterior insulation and finish system cladding. A future braced frame column position is cast with full in-place anchorage into an adjacent concrete pier, utilizing form savers and protection sleeves to allow future installation of anchor rods and pier reinforcing.
