A structural steel beam connects to a column using a connection plate secured with slip-critical bolts and complete joint penetration welds. Continuity plates are welded to the column flanges with complete joint penetration welds typically. The beam flanges feature clipped corners with a slope of two and one-half to one. Additional clips are provided per the typical continuity plate detail.
