An angle brace connects to a gusset plate welded or field-attached to the web of a structural steel beam beneath a metal deck. The three-eighths-inch plate may be field welded to the beams at the contractor's option. Angle braces are sized based on length, using L4x4x3/8 angles for spans under six feet and L6x6x3/8 angles for spans between six and ten feet, unless noted otherwise on plans.
