A wide-flange beam connects to a wide-flange girder using an extended connection plate welded to the top and bottom flanges. Five-eighths-inch web plates are attached to the opposite side of the connection plate. Stiffener plates with clipped corners are fitted to the girder web, leaving a specified clearance at the "k" dimension and left unwelded in that zone. Three-quarter-inch and one-half-inch fillet welds secure the connection assembly as detailed.
