A continuous wide-flange beam sits above an HSS column with a 1-inch clearance space and a 1/4-inch shim space. Two L8x4x1/2 angles are bolted to each side of the HSS column with two 3/4-inch diameter A325 bolts positioned at the bottom of 1-1/2-inch vertical short slotted holes. A 3/8-inch stiffener plate is welded to both sides of the beam web with a 3/16-inch fillet weld on three sides. The column ends are milled square, and mill column ends are specified CP UNO. A 5/16-inch typical fillet weld connects the assembly components.
