A tapered steel beam connects to a structural steel column using a full-height one-half inch shear tab at the edge beam splice connection. Three-quarter inch stiffener plates are welded to each face of the beam web, matching the beam flange width. A weld plate at the bottom mirrors the thickness and width of the top flange. Five-sixteenth inch fillet welds attach the components with specified spacing.
