The grade beam intersects the concrete pedestal or footing with a development length LD for the top reinforcement. The first tie is positioned a maximum of 2 inches from the edge of the pedestal or footing. At the contractor's option, the grade beam reinforcement and footing reinforcement may be lapped together. A clear distance of 6 inches is maintained for the reinforcement.
