A supported steel beam connects to a supporting beam web using a welded shear plate and high-strength bolts. The top flange of the supported beam is coped as required, maintaining a minimum clearance defined by dimension K plus one and a half inches with a three-inch absolute minimum. The connection plate incorporates American Institute of Steel Construction standard horizontal short-slotted holes. Bolt sizes, plate dimensions, and weld sizes are specified per the structural schedule.
