A wide-flange beam or channel frames into an HSS column using a bolted shear connection and plates at the top and bottom of the beam. The top and bottom plates match the thickness of the beam flange and are welded to the HSS column. A shear tab with specified bolts connects the beam web to the column. Weld symbols indicate partial-joint-penetration and fillet welds at the connection plates and column.
