A structural bracing angle connects to an open web steel joist supporting a metal roof deck. A gusset plate measuring 1/4 inch by 6 inches by 0 feet 6 inches is welded to the joist using 3/16 inch fillet welds. An L6x6x1/4 angle spans 0 feet 8 inches with long legs vertical against the support. Where the bracing angle attaches to the joist further than 6 inches from a panel point, the joist must be reinforced per detail. A 1/4 inch fillet weld is specified typically for the connection assembly.
