The steel beam connects to the supporting member using a bolted web shear plate combined with complete joint penetration welds at the top and bottom flanges. The top and bottom flange connections receive typical complete joint penetration welds as specified in the structural notes. The web is secured with a vertical plate fastened by multiple rows of high-strength bolts. Additional reinforcement and specific welding requirements are governed by general structural notes.
