A cold-formed steel stud web penetration is reinforced with a track or metal plate matching the stud width and having a minimum thickness equal to the stud gauge. The plate extends at least two inches above and below the hole and is secured with number eight screws spaced at one inch on center along all four sides. All holes are centered within the stud web. Holes exceeding the specified unreinforced or reinforced size limits require approval by the engineer of record.
