Shear studs are welded through the metal deck to the top flange of the steel beam, positioned specifically relative to deck deformations and down troughs. Studs are placed as close as possible to the centerline of the down trough and located on the specified side of the deck deformation. Span measurements are referenced to the clear span rather than the centerline of the beam segment.
