An open web steel joist with rod web framing into a moment frame beam supports a metal roof deck above. A web plate provided by the joist supplier connects the joist to a three-eighths-inch stiffener plate welded to the steel beam web. The steel beam connects with a five-sixteenths-inch fillet weld typical. Location and connection details must be coordinated with the joist supplier.
