A structural steel column lands on a 2-inch thick Grade 50 base plate secured by eight 1 1/4-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 105 anchor bolts with 3-inch square by 1-inch plate washers. A 1-inch thick Grade 50 gusset plate welded to the column provides the connection for a diagonal brace member sized per elevation. The entire base assembly rests on a 2-inch non-shrink grout pad over a reinforced concrete pad footing and tie beams, featuring an embedded shear key and specified minimum concrete clearances. Longitudinal reinforcing bars extend into the footing and terminate 3 inches clear of the grout pocket.
