A structural steel beam connects to the supporting steel member using a shear plate connection referenced on sheet E1/S403 with bolts through the framing web. A complete joint penetration weld secures the beam flange, supplemented by a five-sixteenth inch steel plate. A full-height web stiffener plate per general structural notes is installed at the support, along with provisions for possible bracing framing into the web.
