This structural detail specifies the reinforcing bar placement around slab openings and depressions. Diagonal corner reinforcement consists of one number four bar by six feet long at each corner of the opening or depression, extending three feet typical in each direction, unless the opening or depression is less than two feet in both directions. Perimeter reinforcement consists of one number five bar for openings under two feet and all depressions, or two number five bars for openings over two feet, placed typically on each side unless the opening is less than one foot in both directions. Standard hooks are provided at bar terminations, and an edge angle is supplied where required. Additional dimensions indicate a three inch maximum typical clearance from the opening edge.
