A wide flange beam connects to the web of a wide flange column using a bolted shear plate and top and bottom stiffener plates. The stiffener plates are welded to the column flanges with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. The shear plate and bolts are sized per schedule, with one-half-inch top and bottom plates specified for five and fewer bolts, and five-eighths-inch plates for more than five bolts. This connection is required where a drag symbol occurs.
