Typical steel shear connections are configured for beam heights both greater than and less than six inches. A half-inch minimum thick full-height stiffener plate is welded to the supporting member using five-sixteenth-inch welds applied on three sides. For beam depths greater than or equal to six inches, one additional one-inch diameter A490 bolt is included in the connection design. Connection plates and weld sizes shown are minimums and must be increased as required by plan reactions. The maximum number of bolts is provided according to the beam depth.
