A supported steel beam frames into a supporting beam using a shear tab plate welded to the support and bolted to the supported beam web. The shear plate dimensions and sizing follow Table E, considering only those bolts positioned above the top flange of the supporting beam. Typical fillet welds secure the plate with specified clearances and dimensions including a three-quarter-inch maximum spacing. Edge distances, bolt spacing at three inches on center, and a coping detail at the beam flange intersection are clearly dimensioned.
