A steel tube stair stringer with a coped end bears against a steel tube beam, joined with a complete joint penetration weld. A one-quarter-inch thick steel closure plate caps the end of the stringer, and an L3x3x1/4 angle twelve inches long supports the concrete over steel deck assembly. The concrete slab features a blockout for the stair tread per the architectural drawings.
