A one-inch thick shear plate welds to the web of a new or existing wide-flange beam with five-eighths inch fillet welds on both sides. Two vertical rows of bolts connect the beam web to the shear plate, spaced with typical one-and-one-half inch edge distances and three-inch vertical pitches. The shear plate fastens to the flange of a new or existing wide-flange or hollow structural section column. Minimum clearances of two inches and three inches maintain proper spacing between the beam end and the column face.
