A new reinforcing dowel is embedded into a concrete wall or footing using an approved epoxy adhesive matching the size of the wall and footing reinforcing. The drilled hole diameter equals the bar diameter plus one-eighth of an inch. After drilling, the hole is blown clean with oil-free compressed air following the manufacturer recommendations for epoxy installation. Bar lap requirements and accepted epoxy types are referenced from general structural notes.
