A galvanized cold-formed purlin connects to the top flange of a wide-flange beam with two 5/8-inch diameter machine bolts at each purlin location, alongside a galvanized cold-formed splice channel where required. Stiffener plates measuring 1/2 inch by 4 inches by 0'-5 1/2 inches are welded to the beam web with typical quarter-inch fillet welds. Steel rods with clevis number 3 fittings attach to the stiffener plates in an X-bracing configuration, sized per the framing plan. Specific weld root opening conditions dictate either a direct weld or a 90-degree angle connection based on a 3/16-inch threshold.
