A tieback base and brace assembly is constructed from a 4-inch diameter extra-strong steel pipe mast with a yield strength of 42 ksi. A drop-forged eyebolt or equivalent component with at least a 2-inch inside diameter closed eye is provided by the trade contractor at the top, secured through a 5/8-inch thick cap plate welded with a 3/16-inch fillet weld. The pipe mast bears on a 1/4-inch base plate welded with a 5/16-inch fillet weld to a varying support beam. A diagonal angle brace consisting of a 2x2x1/4-inch angle, or a 3x3x1/4-inch angle if the length exceeds 10 feet up to a 15-foot maximum, connects the base to an adjacent varying beam using 3/4-inch diameter machine bolts and 1/4-inch and 3/16-inch fillet welds. All exposed steel pieces are to be hot-dip galvanized.
