Metal deck is secured to the top flange of a steel beam using one-half inch diameter puddle welds spaced at twelve inches on center. The metal deck profile and gauge are specified per the architectural drawings. The assembly relies on these welds to provide diaphragm action and transfer loads from the deck to the supporting steel beam.
