An open web steel joist bears directly on the top flange of a supporting structural steel beam. One-half-inch erection bolts are provided where required for temporary stabilization during placement. Field welding specifications indicate a one-quarter-inch fillet weld for LH series joists and a one-eighth-inch fillet weld for K series joists, each with a two-and-one-half-inch weld length.
