A sixteen-gauge steel clip connects the jamb stud to the overhead structure, featuring three-sixteenths by two-and-a-half-inch slotted holes to accommodate vertical deflection. The horizontal leg of the clip is secured to the overhead element using three number ten self-tapping sheet metal screws at cross-laminated timber or two shot pins at steel members. Four number eight wafer head self-tapping sheet metal screws fasten the vertical leg of the clip to the jamb stud. A one-half-inch gap is maintained between the top of the stud and the track to allow for vertical movement.
