A steel beam connects to a hollow structural section column using a welded five-sixteenths-inch shear tab and three three-quarter-inch diameter bolts. The shear tab is welded to the column face and bolted through the beam web with equal spacing. An optional top cope is detailed on the beam flange with specified edge clearances and maximum dimensions.
